Outside the deep knowledge of local fishermen, the floor of Oregon's 3-mile-wide territorial sea and the deeper waters just beyond it are largely uncharted.

The conservation group Oceana spent three weeks closing a bit of that gap. Using a remote-operated undersea vehicle....

Registration is required for all SSNERR programs.  Please call 541-888-5558 ext. 21 to register or get more information about activities at the Reserve.  All SSNERR programs are held at the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, located 4 miles south of Charleston, on Seven Devils Road.  For details on activities other than SSNERR click on link for more information. The South Slough Interpretive Center has exhibits, a gift shop, and information and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00am to 4:30pm year-round. Trails and waterways are open daily from dawn to dusk.  You will find additional information about the Reserve at www.southsloughestuary.org.
